This little Inn is perched high on the hillside of Guanajuato delivering sweeping views of the city. As other reviewers have noted, this does require a taxi into town (about $3.50 for the fare.). If staying in the heart of action is most important to you, I'd stay elsewhere. My sister and I spent 3 nights at Casa Estrella - and loved…

Our room was spacious and nicely decorated with local artists' work. The breakfast and outdoor patio was lovely. The staff was very helpful and arranged for a private taxi ride to a local pottery village and one of the beautiful haciendas. Easy bus ride into town right near by. Guanajuato is a special city with many museums and great historical spots. Stayed…

We enjoyed the vistas from the terraces and the location - not too close to the centre of town and not too far. We were able to kick back and smell the roses. All the staff were very friendly and helpful - very tolerant of our weak Spanish. It was nice to see that the casa was dog friendly as we missed…

I satyed at Casa Estrella de la Valenciana with my mother in October 2012. I have been fortunate to have travelled a lot in my years, but this place is better in every way than anywhere I have ever stayed. The interiors are absolutely stunning, decorated in typical Mexican style. The views over Guanajuato are breathtaking- what a way to wake up!…

What can I say was the best of casa estrella? -- has to be the warmth of the staff and their commitment to make one feel at home. A close second was the physical beauty of the inn - -the breathtaking view and the quality of the accommodation. We took our bichon frise puppy Lexi with us -- and she received extra…

Casa Estrella is a stunning, small hotel overlooking the picturesque town of Guanajuato. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, which made our stay even more enjoyable. Alicia and Angelica make the most amazing Mexican breakfasts (be sure to ask for enchiladas de pollo! or huevos a la mexicana). Janet the general manager made sure everyone was happy and had what they…

My husband and I stayed at Villa Estrella for three nights in February 2012. Guanajuato was one of a selection of colonial cities we visited and by the end of the trip, our favourite city. Villa Estrella is located on a hill and is just a short and inexpensive taxi ride to the city centre. For people who appreciate rooms with views,…

My wife and I were visiting Guanajuato and wanted a hotel a bit outside of town. We chose Casa Estrella because it was in the location we wanted. When we were dropped off we were staggered by the beauty of the home, perched on the hillside with expansive views looking south across the valley and the city. The inn is a lovely…

I've stayed at Casa Estrella a number of times, basically every time I visit Guanajuato. It's a truly beautiful place, from the architecture (especially in the Casita) to the decorations. It's obvious that the owners put a lot of thought and love into creating the space. The view of the city is amazing - during the summer you can watch the thunderstorms…

My recent stay at Casa Estrella de la Valenciana was most enjoyable. The Inn was not only authentically decorated with art work that reflected colonial Mexico but was also modernly comfortable. The room was large and airy with an outside terrace and a tremendous view of the city and hillside! We also had the luxury of having a spa tub in our…

We stayed at Casa Estrella with another couple. The innkeeper, Sharon, welcomed us warmly. The inn has six rooms ... each one decorated beautifully with art and crafts from local masters. (There were things like tiles and pottery and rugs and paintings and paper mâche masks ... the good stuff ... not the gnarly stuff.) The inn is built into the hillside…

"This beautiful modern house, on the mountainside above La Valenciana church, affords a panoramic view of the city and surrounding valley. The owners - two American women, one of whom lives on the premises - have created comfortable, spacious interiors meticulously appointed with regional tiles, pottery, and arts... Common areas include a living room, an upstairs terrace, and a poolside patio. The…
